Stellenbosch and environs -- wine country

The Goat Tower at Fairview Winery.  Yes, there really was a goat up there.

Wine painting at one of the wineries.

This glass of wine actually had gold leaf floating in it!   One of the AVIVA volunteers and I enjoyed this at the Gold Museum in Cape Town.  She fished out her gold leaf and kept it in a piece of paper.  I drank mine down because it was pounded so fine you couldn't either feel or taste it.  Just like the silver laid onto Indian sweets.

But four wineries in one day is too much and by the end of the day the wines all started tasting the same. Nevertheless it was wonderful to see the beautiful countryside and to be driven and entertained by Louise, our African Trax tour guide, who grew up in Zimbabwe and was the kind of person you felt you've known your whole life.
